Fresh off of disappointingly announcing that an updated port of "Final Fantasy VII" would be hitting the PS4 in 2015, but without high definition remastering aimed at taking advantage of next generation hardware, Square Enix has confirmed a more promising upcoming release date of another classic "Final Fantasy" property.

That's right, one of the most popular and critically acclaimed "Final Fantasy" installments (after "Final Fantasy VII," of course), "Final Fantasy X" and its sequel "X-2" will be hitting PS4 with an HD remaster in the Spring of 2015.

The announcement was made by Square Enix on Thursday during the PlayStation China press conference, as reported by IGN, and it confirms a rumor that "FFX" and "FFX-2" were on their way to an HD remastered version for the PS4.

The rumor sprung up online when a French mirror of Square Enix's online store accidentally posted the double-feature HD remastered classic "Final Fantasy" game for PS4.

It was quickly spotted and removed, but cached versions of the website survived. And apparently Square Enix didn't find it worth it to hold off for a planned official announcement, only hours after the leak spread online.

Not much detail is known so far about the HD remastered version of "FFX" and "FFX-2," but of course it's promising to see that, unlike the "Final Fantasy VII" remaster, it promises to be HD.

But what quality HD? How much will it look like a PS4 game, and not just a previous-generation or PC port of the game? Just how much trouble did they put into making the PS4 version of "FFX" remains to be seen.

But undoubtedly fans of the slightly lesser-celebrated "Final Fantasy" game will be happy to see Tidus, Yuna, Rikku, Auron -- not so much Wakka -- and Lulu back in action.

"Final Fantasy X" and "X-2" are expected to have a release date in the spring of 2015, around the time when "Final Fantasy VII" is expected to be released.

That should give fans enough time to play through the classics before a few months later, in the summer of 2015, when the long awaited "Final Fantasy VX" hits next generation consoles.
