'The Divergent Series: Insurgent' Movie Sequel & Online Trailer: Film's Preview Now Available
A new trailer for the sci-fi action sequel "The Divergent Series: Insurgent" has been released online. The sneak peek shows heroine and protagonist, divergent Tris, battling against herself in a mind-bending fight sequence.
Tris, played by "The Fault in Our Stars" actress Shailene Woodley, returns with the rest of the gang, including Theo James as Four and her "Fault in Our Stars" co-star Ansel Elgort as Caleb. The young people ended the first Divergent film having just seen the Erudit faction, led by a cold Kate Winslet, destroy much of the Abnegation group through a mind control takeover. "Insurgent" will pick up with the remaining Dauntless, Abnegation and Candor survivors trying to survive.
Meanwhile, Winslet's ruthless character is rounding up so-called "divergents," people who don't display one of the designated characters that places them in one of the factions, and testing them to determine their powers. This manhunt has Tris and company running for their lives from the Erudit henchmen. Finally, when they temporarily escape Winslet's clutches, they discover a large group of other people hiding out, who call themselves the Factionless.
Their leader asks to join forces against the overpowering faction. In the pulse-pounding trailer, complete with a floating house moment that seems to be straight out of Disney's "Up," it appears that there is still much fighting to do before any sort of peace can be restored.
Tris even seems to be captured at one point and brought in for Divergent testing. It is there that Winslet's character tells her, "Of course you're not going to fight me, you're going to fight yourself."
The first Divergent movie focused on Tris' efforts to fit in with her Dauntless crew and conceal her Divergent status. It seems that in the next Insurgent chapter, being a Divergent is still very dangerous.
Octavia Spencer and "Chasing Mavericks" star Jonny Weston join the cast in the upcoming film. "The Divergent Series: Insurgent" is scheduled to hit theaters on March 20, 2015.
