"Jane the Virgin," CW's new dramedy about a 23-year-old pregnant Latina virgin -- played by budding starlet Gina Rodriguez -- has already received two Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress in a TV comedy series and Best TV comedy series.

The show was also named the 10 best shows of the year by the American Film Institute.

The titular character becomes artificially inseminated and her ordinary straight-and-narrow life explodes, sending plot twist-after-twist in her general direction. Even nearby players experience their own isolated drama. Amid pregnancy, Jane and her fiancé Michael break up. And she partners with Rafael, who is the recently separated sperm donor that accidentally fathered her unborn child. That is until he's drugged, and he and Jane are tricked into believing that he's bedded the first woman to come along after discovering that Jane is a virgin.

Meanwhile, Jane's mother, Xiomara (Xo), is fighting romantic feelings for Jane's father, Rogelio; Rafeal's sister, the doctor who inseminated Jane and is having an affair with her father's wife, gets her committed to a mental institution because she isn't able to keep her mouth shut; and Petra, Rafeal's ex, joins forces with her ex-fiance so that they can take down Rafeal together. All that, and Jane decides to drop her lawsuit because the proceedings made her undocumented abuela a bit nervous.

The partly Spanish series, which airs at 9 p.m. each Monday night, will air its mid-seaon finale this evening, and viewers will watch the romance between Rafael and Jane continue to bud. Mexican superstar Paulina Rubio will star on the episode, and will have an uncanny connection to the family. The episode will have a huge cliffhanger; major clues in the Sin Rostro case will be unvealed; questions will be answered about Petra and her mother; and relationship progression between Jane and Rafeal will be shown. There will also be some Michael, Jane and Rafael conflict.

Spoilers: Jane will have the baby in episode 22. Executive producer Jennie Urman confirmed this, according to TVLine. The Jane, Michael and Rafeal triangle could become an issue again, but writers still aren't sure what will happen.
