If you're in the market for a TV, they are more affordable, and more powerful now than ever before. But, what should you look for when you go out and buy one?

First, with price matching and the Internet there is no excuse to not get the best price possible. Do your research and do not let some sales person push you around.

Check websites like Amazon, Tigerdirect and NewEgg for the best prices. These sites also have fair reviews from actual customers and often have quick shipping times.

If you are not comfortable shopping online, you should be. But, if you still prefer to go and touch the TV and see what it looks like in person, head over to Best Buy or another big box retailer. These stores will match Amazon prices and you get the item right away.

Next, you need to decide which size TV you need and where in the room you will place it. If it is a big screen TV, you need to have a big room, if it is a medium-sized TV you want a medium-sized room to put it in. Don't make the mistake of getting a big TV that takes up an entire corner of your 8x8 bedroom.

For example, if you are putting your TV in the family room and it's a 14x18 foot room, you probably can get a pretty big TV. Aim for something that is big enough that you can see from the other side of the room. You want your couch or chair pointed at the TV, but not too close.

Just a few years ago, a 60-inch TV was out of many consumers' price ranges. Now, they're more affordable than ever.

This 60-inch LED from LG won't break the bank and it is actually rated quite highly on Amazon.

Here is a 32-inch screen by Samsung for just $197.99; the original price was 379.99.
