Actor Jamie Dornan took his role as Christian Grey in the upcoming "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie seriously as he began doing research as soon as he landed the role. The Northern Irish actor visited a sex dungeon to prepare to play his kink-loving character.

According to the Daily Mail, Dornan, 32, told Elle UK about his experience at a sex club after he was cast in Sam Taylor-Johnson's film based on E.L. James' best-selling book. In the interview, which will appear in the magazine's February issue, Dornan talks about his experience at the club and how he found it "underwhelming."

"I went there, they offered me a beer, and they did ... whatever they were into," he told the magazine. "I saw a dominant with one of his two submissives. I was like: 'Come on guys, I know I'm not paying for this, but I am expecting a show.'"

Despite his lukewarm opinion of his time there, Dornan said he had an "interesting" time. Afterwards, he went home to his home and family.

"Then going back to my wife and newborn baby afterwards ... I had a long shower before touching either of them," Dornan added.

This is not the only instance that helped Dornan prepare for his Christian Grey role. He told The Guardian in April that being previously cast as a murderer has helped him with the character.

"There are a couple of classic knots I know now, and I've put them to good use far too many times recently," he said. "In fact I'd like to do a job where I don't have to tie women to beds."

Talking to the Belfast Telegraph recently, Dornan praised his wife, actress Amelia Warner, for her support during the filming of "Fifty Shades of Grey" despite her being pregnant.

"My wife is a brilliant, hugely understanding person. Plus, she was an actress for 10 years so she's aware of what it's like," he said. "A lot of people would have had a sh** fit at 30-something weeks pregnant hearing, 'Darling, we're going to Vancouver this week for four months -- we're going to have a Canadian baby and I'm going to do a film where, for parts of it, I will be naked.. That's a tough pitch but my wife is an incredible person."
