There's no shortage of unsubstantiated rumors about the supposedly upcoming "Elder Scrolls 6: Argonia," which the most fervent fans believe developer Bethesda is working on for a 2015 release date.

But even if "Elder Scrolls 6" is in a secret pre-planning stage, the news of an "Elder Scrolls Online" Update 6 for PC pushback until January of 2015 -- as well as recent statements about the 2015 release date for a non-ported "Elder Scrolls Online" for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 -- should temper expectations for an "Elder Scrolls 6 Skyrim" sequel release date in 2015.

The news about "Elder Scrolls Online's" Xbox One and PS4 release date being delayed came earlier this month from the game's own director, Matt Firor's blog.

In the update, Firor wrote about how the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game were "playable and fun" already, but that there was much more work to do on the games before they were ready for launch.

That's because, according to Firor, the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the "Elder Scrolls Online" game were not just ports of the PC and Mac version, but are being majorly redesigned.

"We have completely replaced the PC user interface with a console-specific UI designed from the ground-up with a controller and a living room play experience in mind," wrote Firor. "We've also added voice chat and full integration with XBL and PSN."

"Expect to see a lot of news about our console versions in early 2015," he added. Meanwhile, Update 6 -- the largest yet update for "Elder Scrolls Online" for PC and Mac that will include new post-level 50 veteran changes in the Champion System and a new Justice System to add consequences for players stealing from or killing NPCs -- has also been pushed back to January 2015.

What this all adds up to is -- at the least -- a similar delay in the release date of the rumored "Elder Scrolls 6" sequel, which some publications have previously pegged for 2015 as well.

With so much going on at Bethesda on its current, nonfiction projects, those dreaming of an "Elder Scrolls 6: Argonia" release next year should at least revise those dreams a little bit to fit the production company's actual work load.

Or is Bethesda stretched thin because it's working so hard on "ES6" -- or the slightly more plausible "Fallout 4" -- for a release date next year? Dream on, you crazy RPG fans.
