Andrew Lloyd Webber is set to create the stage adaptation the 2003 hit film, "School of Rock," Broadway reports.

"School of Rock" the musical will premiere on Broadway next year and will encompass a distinctive rock sound that was showcased in Webber's previous hit musical, "Jesus Christ Superstar," Variety reports.

In addition to Webber, "Downton Abbey" writer, Julian Fellowes will come on-board as the show's book writer along with "Tangled" lyricist, Glenn Slater. Record producer Rob Cavallo is also set to join "School of Rock" the musical's creative team, Variety adds.

The movie turned musical focuses on the story of a wannabe rockstar who becomes a substitute teacher that recruits a group of kids to compete in "Battle of the Bands."

The original film was written by Mike White, directed by Richard Linklater and starred Jack Black as wannabe rock star Dewey Finn, Broadway reports.

"It's a wonderful movie about what the power of music can be for kids," Lloyd Webber told Broadway about what attracted him to create the musical, adding, "it's Jack Black's movie and it's Mike White's movie and Mike's a terrific writer and I do not want in any way to make it a kind of Andrew Lloyd Webber show-it has to be true to the original for it to work."

Broadway reports that "School of Rock" the musical will begin previews on November 2, 2015 and will officially open on Dec. 6.

Webber is responsible for creating a number of Broadway classics including "Cats" "Phantom of the Opera ," " Jesus Christ Superstar," "Evita," "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," and many others.

"Cats" has gone on to become what Variety describes as the "world's first global megamusical" while "Phantom of the Opera" continues to play at Broadway's Majestic Theater for 26 years and counting.

So far, neither Jack Black nor the "School of Rock" movie team have commented publicly on the film being turned into a Broadway musical.
