The Sony hack saga continued on Monday as the media conglomerate threatened to take legal action against Twitter for sharing stolen emails from its massive data breach.

Late last month, hackers thought to be connected to North Korea broke into Sony's network and stole troves of data in retaliation of the studio's film "The Interview," which is based on a plot to assassinate North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un. Following the leak, it was revealed that top executives at Sony exchanged embarrassing and racist emails.

Perhaps in order to prevent more of their data from being disclosed, Sony Pictures Entertainment has complied with a number of the cyber hackers' demands, including canceling the release of "The Interview" on Christmas Day and deleting the movie's social media accounts. Sony also threatened journalists from sharing stolen data.

Now, the company is threatening the Twitter social network with a lawsuit if it does not police users who post content from their leaked emails.

According to Re/code, Sony asked Twitter to suspend a specific account managed by a musician named Val Broeksmit under the handle at @BikiniRobotArmy. The user tweeted screenshots of leaked emails. The account, however, still remains active.

If "stolen information continues to be disseminated by Twitter in any manner," the studio will "hold Twitter responsible for any damage or loss arising from such use or dissemination by Twitter," wrote Sony's attorney David Boies in a letter addressed to Twitter's general counsel Vijaya Gadde, according to MotherBoard.

The letter also demands that Twitter "comply with all future requests with regard to any other account holder seeking to disseminate the Stolen Information via Twitter."

"In addition, we ask that you provide the Account Holder with a copy of this letter and request that the Account Holder cease publication of the Stolen Information on Twitter," the letter says. "SPE does not consent to Twitter's or any Twitter account holder's possession, review, copying, dissemination, publication, uploading, downloading, or making any use of the Stolen Information, and to request your cooperation in suspending the Account Holder's Twitter account and the account of any other user seeking to disseminate the Stolen Information via Twitter."
