Carmen Salinas is a very recognizable face to Latinos.

After starting her career in the 1960s, she has taken on more than 100 roles in different movies and telenovelas, such as "Maria la del Barrio," "Hasta Que El Dinero Nos Separe" and, most recently, "Mi Corazón Es Tuyo." Her popularity has only increased in the last few years after many social media users decided to use her image for memes, but Salinas, 81, has not yet cashed in on this phenomenon.

Things may change, as she told her relatives to take advantage of the popular memes, according to Diario Basta.

"They have asked me to release shirts for sales, but I already told my nephew, Gustavo, and my daughter, Maria Eugenia, that they should start the business so that they can make a little money," she said.

Salinas added that her relatives want to also have tennis shoes.

Those who have come up to her and tried to get her to sign off on making money off the meme's popularity have been rejected.

"A guy showed me like 12 shirts with memes, and he wanted me to promote them; finally, I didn't do it and said: if you release them, you might find yourself in trouble," she said.

Salinas did say that she would like to have a calendar with all the images.

The memes have made her particularly popular with younger people.

Eiza Gonzalez, for example, shared a video on her Instagram account of Salinas saying, "b**** please."

Gonzalez comment showed she was very pleased with the video.

"With the same expression on her face and [everything] I love you carmencita," Gonzalez said.

Salinas also joined her "Mi Corazón Es Tuyo" co-star Paulina Goto in sharing a similar message.

The memes that are so popular on social media features various different topics.
