The production of Batman vs. Superman peaked a great deal of interest from fans, even before the controversial naming of Ben Affleck as Batman. So, to further tantalize interested parties, it's been announced that the film's production team has narrowed down the list of potential love interests for Batman down to four women.

To clarify, four actresses are now battling to be the lead female/love interest for batman, but it's yet to be decided which character the women would portray, or who those four actresses might be.

Batman films have often shown Catwoman as Batman's love interest and, once before, Poison Ivy, but in truth there are number of women in the DC cannon who could suitably play his love interest: Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batwoman, Batgirl, Flamegirl, Black Canary or a number of others.

The question, then, is which of the four mystery women can convincingly play one of the aforementioned characters, and, simultaneously, not outshine the leads? Online, fans joked, stating that their fingers wer crossed in hopes that none of the women are Jennifer Garner or Halle Berry, due to their past failures as screen heroines.

The film, still in its pre-production stage though set for theaters July 17, 2015, has a few roles secured. Ben Affleck will certainly play Bruce Wayne/Batman, Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Clark Kent/Batman, Amy Adams will also be reprising her role as Lois Lane, Diane Lane will play Martha Kent, and Laurence Fishburne will be Perry White.

The female lead as well as the film's key antagonist has yet to be announced, though Bryan Cranston is rumored to take the on the role of Lex Luthor.
