Kaley Cuoco Does Not Consider Herself a Feminist Because She Likes Being a Housewife, Has Never Felt Inequality
Kaley Cuoco is the latest female celebrity voicing her opinion about feminism.
"The Big Bang Theory" actress is on the cover of the February issue of Redbook, and she was asked if she considered herself a feminist.
"Is it bad if I say no? It's not really something I think about," she said. "Things are different now, and I know a lot of the work that paved the way for women happened way before I was around. ... I was never the feminist girl demanding equality, but maybe that's because I've never really faced inequality."
The star added she also enjoys cooking for her husband, Ryan Sweeting, five nights a week. Doing this makes her feel like a "housewife," which is something she loves, even if it sounds "old-fashioned."
"I'm so in control of my work that I like coming home and serving him," she said. "My mom was like that, so I think it kind of rubbed off."
Cuoco signed a contract this year that will make her one of the highest-paid television actresses. She will be making $1 million per episode of "The Big Bang Theory" for the next three seasons.
Cuoco said that this raise will mean more to her family, who helped her go to auditions regularly.
"My parents spent 16 years hauling my butt to LA for audition after audition," she said. "Every day they were helping me learn my lines, dropping me off, waiting for me, picking me up, giving me pep talks when I didn't get jobs, taking me to tennis and horseback riding lessons. I remember always hoping I could help take care of them because they took such good care of me. Knowing I'll be able to just brings tears to my eyes."
Cuoco also told women who were going to take naked photos of herself to "get a polaroid," to avoid her fate. Earlier in the year, many female celebrities' naked photos were leaked, with Cuoco being one of them.
