Guatemalan-born actor Oscar Isaac is one of the biggest rising stars of modern time and is slated to star in "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens."

The actor has been outspoken when asked about the big project and recently addressed the growing speculation and rumors circulating around the project.

"I can't speak for the cast and crew, I can just speak for myself, but for me I thought, 'Don't you want to wait so you can get the real thing?' ... But it creates excitement for it," he told Yahoo Movies. "I don't think these little leaks necessarily ruined watching the trailer. And also, the [plot theories] that get formulated based on these things, they couldn't be more far off-base."

His decision to deride all the rumors and claim they are mistaken is not a shocking move. Does anyone remember when there was a certain rumor going around that Benedict Cumberbatch would be playing Khan in "Star Trek: Into Darkness" and the responses give to the media by the cast?

Here's an interesting quote from Cumberbatch himself made in December 2012.

"I play a character called John and not that other name," Benedict said, according to Access Hollywood. "It's interesting. Speculation is speculation, and that's all fun."

When the secret was eventually unveiled, he commented on how the decision had been made by director J.J. Abrams' to keep the revelation under wraps until the film's release.

You would need to be, to use a cliché, living under a rock to not know what "The Force Awakens" and "Star Trek: Into Darkness" have in common, but as a refresher here it is: J.J. Abrams. And anyone that knows anything about him, it's that he's extremely secretive with his films' plot lines. And he often lies to misdirect the press regarding speculation to hype up the film.

And in the case of Khan, people are usually right on the money, but never actually know until the film's release.

Isaac doesn't point to any rumors, but he dismisses every last one of them in one gesture. The problem is, as with the Khan situation, there are a number of rumors pointing to the same plot ideas regarding "The Force Awakens." The biggest of these rumors points to Luke Skywalker going into hiding after realizing his power is destructive and grappling with the dark and light sides of the force. He is sought after by the new protagonists and antagonists and is forced to decide where his allegiance lies.

This is the rumor that has circulated incessantly on the Internet, albeit in differing iterations. Some have him already committed to evil. Others claim he destroyed a planet. Others have him completed isolated on Dagobah. In some rumors, he has an apprentice, played by Lupita Nyong'o.

But all of them have Luke in hiding to avoid misusing his power. And none of them point to established Jedi orders.

So even if Isaac rejects rumors and other cast members follow suit, it is unlikely the press or fans bite as quickly at their statements. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. There will be no "shame on me."
