Fernanda Romero is a Mexico City-born, 30-year-old model, singer and actress who began her career in a pop group called Fryzzby. The up-and-coming actress recently sat down with Latina to discuss her Mexican roots and her upcoming film, Ghost Team One with a Latina insider.

By the time Romero was 18-years-old, she'd appeared in ad campaigns for Apple, J.C. Penney, and Pepsi, and had been featured in OK Magazine Espanol and GQ Mexico. A short appearance on La Ley del Silencio led to her first film Creature of Darkess.

Romero's breakout role was in The Eye, where she played the haunting role of Ana Cristina Martinez, who was referred to as "Bruja" (Witch) and was the foreign face that Jessica Alba's character saw in the mirror after she regained her sight. That role was followed by a feature in Drag Me to Hell, Ready or Not, and a number of television shows.

In Ghost Team One, Romero's new comedy/horror film, she plays a character who's her namesake. The fictional Fernanda will be a sexy ghost hunter who will search her haunted home for ghosts with her two roommates, played by Carlos Santos and J.R. Villareal. Romero explained that the film is similar to Paranormal Activity except that it's funny and has a great Latino cast. There's also a love triangle at play in the spooky film.

Romero went on to discuss her family and the difficulties of moving to the United States.

"It was hard at the beginning because I was in a completely different country. Little things were missing from my life, like my family. Latinos are so family oriented, and I missed them so much when I first moved. I also missed the people and the food. Once I got used to the culture in the United States, I realized there were many good things about living here. I started to hang out with other Latinos here. Now, this is my home."

Romero will star in Pendejo with Danny Trejo; Mission Park with Vivica A. Fox; Number Runner with Jon-Paul Gates; Fighter's Chance with Evander Holyfield; and County with Aimee Garcia and Jason Ritter. And, she'll soon be shouting scenes for the film Broken Doll, staring Cuba Gooding Jr. and Christian Serratos.
