AT&T Cell Phone Plans & Coverage: Carrier to Bring Rollover Data to Plans
Consumers might be in luck in the next few months. That's because there is an all-out mobile pricing war going on and it is becoming more and more intense as time goes on.
AT&T has now followed suit with T-Mobile and is offering a way to rollover your unused data into the next month. T-Mobile announced their Data Stash plan back in December and AT&T likely felt the pressure to do the same.
Here's how it works:
If you have a Mobile Value Share plan with AT&T, you are already set up. If you are not currently an AT&T customer you can become one and still get this offer.
According to AT&T's FAQ page about the promotion this is not a limited-time offer. That means AT&T is seeing the trend of people craving data and wanting to get a fair price.
Let's say you share a plan with your spouse. You purchased the 10 GB data plan. Your spouse rarely uses much more than 2 GB of data and you usually use about 5 GB. That's a grand total of 7 GB.
Under the old plan those extra 3 GB of data just disappeared even though you paid for them. Now, you can rollover the extra 3 GB of data into the next month meaning you would have 13 GB available for your usage the next month.
The deal, announced Wednesday, goes into effect Jan. 25. There are some limits though. The rollover data will only last one month. That means that you cannot just keep banking rollover data that you do not use each month. If you have 10 GB and you only use 5 GB one month, you will have 15 GB for the following month. Use all 15 GB if you can, because that is the advantage of the plan.
T-Mobile's Stash Your Data plan is pretty similar, except you get a 12 month storage lifespan. Latin Post recently did a review on T-Mobile's plan.
