Rapper Flavor Flav is scheduled to make a court appearance in a Long Island, New York court room next week after being indicted on multiple charges, including driving with a suspended license during a traffic stop that occured while he was going to his mother's funeral.

Court documents show the rapper, who was born William Drayton, was indicted in December on a felony charge of driving with a suspended license. He is also facing a speeding violation and two misdemeanors for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, reports the Associated Press. His court appearance is set for Jan. 21.

The reality star was arrested on Jan. 9, 2014 for speeding and driving with 16 suspensions on his license on the morning of his mother's funeral. The 55-year-old rapper lost his mother Anna Drayton on Dec. 31, 2013.

According to reports, police stopped the hip hop veteran while he was driving a black Hyundai in Valley Stream, New York and found a small amount of marijuana in his possession. However, he was later released to attend his mother's funeral.

Police say he was driving at 79 mph in a 55 mph zone and was arrested for "Felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation," reports NBC News.

Flavor Flav came to fame in the 1980s as a member of the hip-hop group Public Enemy, which later become the fourth hip hop act to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, reports Rolling Stone.

After launching a solo career, he appeared on a number of reality shows on VH1, including "The Surreal Life," "Strange Love" and "Flavor of Love," where he attempted to find a wife.

Flavor Flav has been arrested for marijuana in the past, including in 1996 incident when he was arrested while riding a bike in the South Bronx with two pounds of marijuana in his pockets.
