Based on a Credit Suisse survey of recent iPhone buyers, it is being reported that 35 million people want to buy an Apple Watch in its first year on sale.

The Credit Suisse survey concluded that 18 percent of iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus buyers say they will "definitely" buy an Apple Watch, which, according to Business Insider indicates tens of millions of first-year buyers.

Credit Suisse claims that Apple plans to produce only 20 million Apple Watches. If so, there will be more buyers than available smartwatches.

When the smartwatch launched in 2014, Apple announced the Sport Watch model would cost $349 retail, but other variants have not yet been priced. If 20 million Apple Watches are sold in the first year, Apple will have a gross profit of $6.98 billion.

Apple Watch Release Date

The Tuesday leak regarding details of a new iPhone app named "Companion" provides evidence that Apple is preparing for the rumored release date in March.

9to5mac reports that Apple Store employees will be receiving training for the Apple Watch between Feb. 9 and Feb. 16 in Cupertino, California and Austin, Texas. February training could mean the iWatch will hit Apple Store shelves in March.

It seems the iWatch will debut in the U.S. and possibly have a staggered release throughout the rest of the world thereafter. Apple has been known to release new products over a period of months. The first generation iPhone was launched in the U.S. and was not available elsewhere for five months.

Rival manufacturers Sony, Samsung and LG have already launched smartwatches, while Apple has been slow to join the wearables market, but if the Credit Suisse survey is correct, it seems most consumers want the iWatch and are willing to wait for it.

Lastly, mobile advertising firm TapSense has announced an industry first programmatic Apple Watch advertising platform. Apple has not provided guidelines or said whether it will allow ads.
