"The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder and "Twilight" alum Nikki Reed are engaged after just six months of dating, Us Weekly reports.

An Us Weekly source claims Reed "accepted with glee" when Somerhalder recently proposed and the two are "madly in love."

"They're so happy," an E! News source said. "They were crazy happy from the start. Their families love each other. It just feels really right."

Us Weekly reports Somerhalder first sparked engagement rumors last month when he was spotted shopping for a ring at Neil Lane.

"Ian bought a vintage diamond eternity band for Nikki," an insider had told Us Weekly.

"It's not a typical engagement ring but actually a wedding band you purchase for when you get married."

Somerhalder later sparked the engagement rumors again when he posted an Instagram message on Jan. 8 about 2015 being a great year "to make a future" for himself and Reed.

Prior to their engagement, Reed and Somerhalder were friends while they dated other people. Somehalder was dating his "The Vampire Diaries" co-star Nina Dobrev at the time, and Reed was in the midst of divorce from "American Idol's" Paul McDonald.

After splitting from their partners, Reed and Somerhalder immediately began dating, which reportedly caused a rift between Somerhalder and Dobrev who were still under contract to act alongside each other on "The Vampire Diaries."

As tension began to build between Dobrev and Somerhalder, Reed was allegedly banned from visiting the "The Vampire Diares" set.

Since then, Dobrev appears to have moved on and was last linked romantically to "Gossip Girl" alum Chace Crawford.

Meanwhile, Somerhalder and Reed continued to build on their relationship and previously adopted a puppy and kitten together.

Though the two have not publicly confirmed their engagement, People reports the couple was recently spotted being affectionate while attending several Golden Globes parties.

It is unclear when Reed and Somerhalder plan to tie the knot.
