Julianne Hough and Vanessa Hudgens have been casted to play Sandy and Rizzo in Fox's live adaptation of classic musical "Grease," Entertainment Weekly reports.

Though Fox has yet to announce the name of who will play head T-Bird Danny Zuko, the network insists that "Grease: Live" will bring "star power and quality," the Huffington Post reports.

Entertainment Weekly adds Fox promises to "re-imagine the hit crossover musical for an entirely new generation."

When asked why they chose to take on the roles of Sandy and Rizzo in the popular musical, Hough replied she had always been a fan of "Grease," while Hudgens said interpreting Rizzo was a challenge she wanted to take on.

"'Grease' is one of the movies that made me want to be an entertainer, and I have literally been waiting my whole life to play Sandy," Hough told EW. "My siblings and I watched it and played it out over and over when we were kids. This is my dream role and performing it live on television will be one of the most thrilling opportunities I've had in my career so far."

Hudgens said, "Being Rizzo is something I've never imagined, and I love that because it will be a new challenge. She is such an iconic character that continues to transcend generations. I cannot wait to bring her to life on live television. I'm going to be a Pink Lady!"

Prior to starring in "Grease," Hudgens and Hough each landed starring role in movie musicals.

Hudgens rose to fame as Gabriella Montez in Disney's "High School Musical," which started on the Disney Channel and eventually made its way to theaters by the third installment. Hough has starred in a few movie musicals, such as "Burlesque," "Rock of Ages," and "Footloose," the Huffington Post reports.

"Grease: Live" is set to air on Jan. 31, 2016.
