Catalina Sandino Moreno will be replacing Rosario Dawson in the upcoming thriller Incarnate. The Colombian actress who was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in Maria Full of Grace (2004) is getting another opportunity to become better acquitted with American audiences.

Moreno, 32, earned the role after Dawson dropped out of the film to scheduling conflicts. Dawson's next screen appearance will be in the biopic Chavez, which co-stars Michael Pena, America Ferrera and John Malkovich.

The Bridge's nine episode arc which involved Moreno recently wrapped, just in time for her to begin filming Incarnate next month in Los Angeles. The film is being described as a "micro-budget" film about an unconventional exorcist and the 9-year-old boy he's meant to help who's possessed by a demon. She will star opposite Aaron Eckhart, who will play the role of the exorcist. The script is by Ronnie Christensen, and Brad Peyton will be directing the feature. Incarnate is financed by Blumhouse and IM Global. And, Couper Samuelson will executive produce with Michael Seitzman and Trevor Engelson.

Before becoming an actress, Moreno studied advertising at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. She won the lead role of Maria in Maria Full of Grace after beating out 900 other girls for the role. That film was followed roles in Paris, je t'aime, Fast Food Nation, Love in the Time of Cholera, Steven Soderbergh's Che Part One: The Argentine and Che Part Two: Guerrilla, and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

She also performed "Que Linda Manita" on the soundtrack for Paris, je t'aime.

Moreno is married to David Elwell, and gave birth to her first born child in 2006.
