Jay Z and Funkmaster Flex Beef: Rapper Considering Buying NYC Radio Station Hot 97 With New York Knicks' Carmelo Anthony? [Video]
Jay Z is reportedly considering buying New York's hip-hop and R&B radio station Hot 97 amid beef with DJ Funkmaster Flex.
A "rock-solid source" told MediaTakeOut.com that the Brooklyn emcee is "currently negotiating to buy Hot 97 radio station," along with a group of investors that includes New York Knicks basketball player Carmelo Anthony.
"Both sides have hired lawyers and investment bankers and are serious in getting a deal done," the publication said. "This is not rumor -- it is fact."
However, it seems like Funkmaster Flex will not have to worry about losing his job, as
"That story is false," a spokesperson from Hot 97's parent company Emmis Communications told HipHopWired.
The station's fellow on-air personalities Ebro Darden and Peter Rosenberg also discussed the speculation:

The claim of Jay Z buying the radio station came after Funkmaster Flex, who has his own radio show at Hot 97, recently ranted about Hov's website Life + Times and accused him of stealing the idea for his Samsung app.
"Let me be clear, because I read through everything in that email that was sent to me, I don't care about your website," Funkmaster Flex said. "Your website's trash. Y'all can't move with me in this digital space. Maybe if y'all copies everything I was doing with the app, your app wouldn't have crashed the day your album dropped. Don't play with me. I didn't take no sides in that situation. Play me like I'm stupid and you're gonna see a different kind of dude firing off on you. I let you live in this town, don't think I can't ruin you."
The veteran radio personality then took shots at Mr. Carter once again for capitalizing his own name in a text message to him.

"In 2015, you are a commercial, corporate rapper that drops a little catchphrase every three months,"Funkmaster Flex said. "There's nothing wrong with that. I think that's super dope. Don't talk to me funny in the text, bruh. I don't work for you. Don't you ever capitalize your name in my phone no more, bro."
