Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya said they are considering several options for the next fight Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, including James Kirkland and Timothy Bradley.

De La Hoya said in a recent interview he is set to discuss different options to Alvarez on Friday and also insisted Canelo will still fight on May 2 despite the failed talks to face Miguel Cotto on Cinco de Mayo weekend.

"I'll be sitting down with Canelo, driving down to San Diego and explore every option," De La Hoya said via Bad Left Hook. "One thing is for sure, Canelo is going to fight May 2. He's expressed for many months now that he's not moving from that date. He wants to fight on May 2 and give his fans the best show possible."

De La Hoya also confirmed reports Alvarez is considering facing Kirkland and Bradley, the former World Boxing Organization welterweight champion, who will likely move up to the junior middleweight division for his next fight.

Bradley, whose fight against Diego Gabriel Chaves ended up in a split draw last month, has also expressed interest in facing Alvarez, who is a former junior middleweight world champion.

De La Hoya also said he is not taking Cotto off the table as he is still interested in staging the Cotto-Alvarez fight because boxing fans have been asking for it.

Golden Boy Promotions recently announced they have decided to back out of talks for the presumed May 2 fight between Cotto and Alvarez after the Puerto Rican champion failed to decide before the deadline they set last week.

But according to De La Hoya, Alvarez is not closing his door on Cotto as well, and the reigning World Boxing Council middleweight champion can still change his mind and agree to the proposed Cinco de Mayo showdown.

However, De La Hoya also said the fight might not happen at all, similar to the long-awaited bout between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. He blasted Cotto and Mayweather for not giving the fans the big fights they deserve to see this year.

"It's exactly what happened to the Mayweather-Pacquiao negotiations," De La Hoya said of the Cotto-Alvarez fight talks. "We signed our side of the deal. I can't say that Cotto was afraid of Canelo. I can't say that Mayweather's afraid of Pacquiao But the fact of the matter is, they're not going to give the fans what they deserve."
