'So You Think You Can Dance' Cast & Judges: Paula Abdul, Jason Derulo Set To Join
Paula Abdul is set to join the cast of "So You Think You Can Dance" as a judge when the reality, talent show launches its 12th season later this year.
The former "American Idol" judge is expected to replace Mary Murphy as a full-time regular on the show, joining longtime returning judge Nigel Lythgoe and host Cat Deeley. Fox TV officials also announced singer, dancer Jason Derulo will also be joining the show in the same capacity as Abdul.
"I have dedicated a large part of my career as a choreographer to discovering and mentoring some of the most iconic artists and performers from all over the world," the 53-year-old Abdul told the Hollywood Reporter.
She added of the show itself it "has a long-standing history of launching brilliant careers of young choreographers and dancers. It's going to be a true honor and pleasure joining this panel with Jason and Nigel, I'm looking forward to an exciting season."
Abdul has also previously served as a judge on "The X Factor" and got her start working as a dancer and choreographer with the L.A. Lakers. She has also filled in before on both "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Dancing with the Stars."
"With the new and exciting format comes a news and exciting panel of judges," said Lythgoe. "I'm delighted that Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo will be joining the judges table this season. Paula is an incredible artist and she brings the perfect combination of expertise and heart to the panel.
Added Derulo, the creator of such Top 5 singles as "Talk Dirty," "Ridin Solo" and "Whatcha Say": "I am truly excited and eagerly look forward to joining the cast. It is one of the most respected and longest-tenured shows on network television and I hope to be part of new growth and continued success."
The show beginning hosting auditions for the new season on Jan. 24 in New York City.
