LAX Airport Shooting: Gunman Who Killed TSA Agent Carried Note During Shooting
The man who went on a rampage on Friday at Los Angeles International Airport carried a note with him at the time of the shooting, a law enforcement official said to the Associated Press.
According to TSA administrator John Pistole as reported in Fox News, there wasn't only one TSA employee who was shot but multiple.
"I am deeply saddened to inform you that a TSA employee was shot and killed today on duty at Los Angeles International Airport," Pistole said.
The suspect's note was handwritten, according to Fox News, and it described his intent to kill TSA employees and "pigs." He made the attack at around 9:20 a.m. on Friday when he yanked a rifle out of his bag and started shooting. People soon were evacuated and taken by buses to another location while police dealt with the situation.
Fox Sports writer Bill Reiter was on the scene at the airport and tweeted about what he saw.
"When gunfire broke out there was a stampede people, all of us hiding under seats we didn't fit under, we burst through the door to outside," he wrote.
Meanwhile, Tony Belleci from "Mythbusters" also tweeted from LAX. "Heard gun shots then everyone starting running for the door. Not sure if anyone was hurt," he said.
The terminal where the shooting took place opened back up on Friday night but the gate area remained shut down. The Federal Aviation Administration had grounded all flights in the time after the shooting, but the restrictions were lifted by Friday night.
