Microsoft does not believe in quitting. Recently, Apple announced the release of their best iPad yet, the iPad Air. According to PCMag, Apple iPad Air is the thinnest, lightest and fastest iPad yet. Any company would have backed down and throw down the towel with this promise by Apple, but not Microsoft. But why should it?

Microsoft believes in its products. It is not fazed with the increasing number of Apple fans and Android followers and will continue to churn out its Windows-based products because the company simply believes Windows can offer so much more, no matter if many people have not caught on yet. Microsoft will continue to tell people what's good with their products, again and again until people realize these for themselves.

With its Surface 2 tablet with Windows, Microsoft is telling people again. According to CNET News, In its new Surface 2 Ad, Microsoft touted the Surface 2 model as the model for the more focused and more driven individuals who want to use their tablets for productivity purposes, and not just for fun. Microsoft implies that iPad is just a nice toy, while Surface 2 is the real deal. While this marketing pitch will not persuade everyone, one or two will certainly find the Surface 2, more adequate to meet their productivity needs.

Considering Apple's boasting of its 94% share of the education market, Microsoft's claim can raise a few doubtful eyebrows. However, when looking closely at what the Surface 2 offers, one will not find Microsoft's claim that hard to believe either. The Surface 2 is outfitted with Nvidia's Tegra 4 (T40) processor, a 1.7GHz ARM mobile quad-core CPU boasting 72 graphics cores. It's paired with 2GB of RAM.

Surface 2 has also two more storage options, with a USB 3.0 port allowing for plug-and-play compatibility with flash drives and external hard drives. The tablet has a MicroSD card reader that allows its users to increase the 32 or 64GB storage with swappable cards up to 64GB each. This indeed can enhance users' productivity. Probably the biggest difference between Surface 2 and iPad Air is that the former comes with a "real keyboard" according to CNET. This will naturally be apt for "real work".
