On Wednesday, Drake's third studio album, Nothing Was the Same, went platinum.

The album is currently enjoying its fifth week at the No. 1 spot on Billboard's top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and has spent six weeks in the top-five of the Billboard 200. This week, however, the album reached a new landmark. By selling 38,274 more copies, the album reached the coveted million copies sales mark, according to Nielsen SoundScan, making it platinum. Nothing Was the Same has now sold a total of 1,029,000 copies in the United States.

Nothing Was the Same went platinum quicker than any other rap album this year, taking the title away from Jay-Z's Magna Carta...Holy Grail, which went platinum in 12 weeks. The only other rap albums to go platinum this year took much longer to do so. Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d city took 43 weeks to go platinum, while Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's The Heist took 46 weeks.

Drake is currently on his Would You Like a Tour? with Miguel and Future. The tour finishes in North America on Dec. 18 and will continue in Europe in March.

The rapper still has more music to share with his fans.

"I'ma drop 'Trophies' though. I'ma finish it up and drop 'Trophies,'" Drake said. "We got some stuff we did for the Aaliyah album that's crazy. I got a record with YG that's crazy. The 'Wu-Tang Forever' remix is sitting there, just waiting."

But not everyone is happy about Nothing Was the Same. According to label mate Nicki Minaj, the album does not include enough influence from the two rappers' record label, Young Money Cash Money Billionaires.

"I'm Young Money 'til the death of me," she told DJ Whoo Kid. "Drake can do what Drake do, but Nicki Minaj is a whole different person. I think your team is your team. Who gives a f*ck about trying to be different? I'm always going to want my team to be a part of my project, no matter what, in some way."
