Bobby Brown's lawyer, Christopher Brown, recently released a statement claiming that Bobby's daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, is not married to Nick Gordon.

Christopher Brown also gave an update on the investigation surrounding Bobbi Kristina's hospitalization.

"We are currently investigating the events that led to the hospitalization of Bobbi Kristina," Christopher Brown told ABC News. "To correct earlier reports, Bobbi Kristina is not and has never been married to Nick Gordon."

News of Gordon's relationship status with Bobbi Kristina might comes as a surprise since previous reports referred to Gordon as Bobbi Kristina's husband.

Bobbi Kristina also publicly referred to Gordon as her husband and often posted photos of what appeared to be her wedding ring on Instagram.

Gordon was the person who found Bobbi Kristina unresponsive in a bathtub filled with water last weekend and called 911 for help. Bobbi Kristina has since been hospitalized and placed in a medically-induced coma to reduce the swelling in her brain.

So far, Bobbi Kristina's health status continues to dwindle, and her father Bobby Brown has asked the public for privacy during this difficult time.

"Privacy is requested in this matter," Bobby Brown said in a statement to E! News. "Please allow for my family to deal with this matter and give my daughter the love and support she needs at this time."

It is unclear what specifically caused Brown's tragic incident. However, People sources speculate that Bobbi Kristina's hospitalization might be the result of her ongoing struggle coping with her mother Whitney Houston's death almost three years ago. Eerily enough, Houston died on Feb. 11, 2012 after she was found unconscious in a bathtub filled with water.

It has not been confirmed whether Bobbi Kristina's incident is an attempted suicide, but sources say the 21-year-old is having a hard time dealing with Houston's passing.

"It's been a difficult time for Bobbi Kristina, who's struggled in the years after her mother's death," the source said. " [She] has been vacillating between extremes for a while now and is fighting grief and demons of her own creation. The loss of her mom and her intense craving for attention of any sort are just the tip of her mountain of issues."
