American actress Jennifer Lawrence completed a nude photo shoot for Vanity Fair.

Lawrence posed for the photos at a residence in the Hollywood Hills and only briefly became "uncomfortable when the snake took a fancy to her neck," according to Fox News.

The pictures, shot by French fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier, show Lawrence lying on her stomach, feet in the air as a Colombian red-tailed boa coils over her bottom, around the arch of her back and over her neck. Some of them are available on the magazine's website.

The scene pays homage to an iconic portrait of German model Nastassja Kinski, which Vanity Fair claimed "launched a million dorm-room posters." The 1981 image, "Nastassja Kinski and The Serpent," was taken for Vogue by American fashion photographer Richard Avedon. It sold at a 2014 auction for $74,500.

"(Lawrence) has the perfect combination of strength, sexuality and humor, and -- above all -- tomboy to pull this off," Vanity Fair's fashion and style director, Jessica Diehl, said about the shoot she styled. The photos of Lawrence were taken July 29 and are featured in Vanity Fair's March 2015 issue.

The actress, meanwhile, is preparing for the release of the final instalment of "The Hunger Games" trilogy. Shooting for "Mockingjay - Part 2" concluded last June. The epic's finale hits U.S. movie theaters on Nov. 20.

Lawrence is said to be dating Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, and the two were spotted together on New Year's Eve at Studio City's Kiwami Sushi, according to the International Business Times. The 24-year-old Academy Award winner is apparently ready to make official her relationship with the 37-year-old musician, who last year separated from actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

''Who says I don't approve (of Lawrence)?" Paltrow, 42, said on Howard Stern's SiriusXM radio show. "I respect him as the father of my children. ... I do think that he loves the kids so much, and I don't think that he wouldn't be with someone who isn't great."
