Many fans are anticipating "Star Wars: Episode VII", and rumors about the new actors of the iconic series are surfacing.

The official "Star Wars" website announced on November 7 that Episode VII is scheduled to open in theaters on December 18, 2015, which is also confirmed by LuasFilm.

"We're very excited to share the official 2015 release date for 'Star Wars: Episode VII,'" Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn said. "Where it will not only anchor the popular holiday film-going season but also ensure our extraordinary filmmaking team has the time needed to deliver a sensational picture."

J.J. Abrams is set to direct "Star Wars: Episode VII" and co-script the new "Star Wars" feature with Lawrence Kasdan, who was partly responsible for the scripts of both "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi." John Williams, who wrote the music for the original films, will score the film. The shooting of the new episode is scheduled to begin next Spring 2014 at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, the United Kingdom. 

The full lineup of the production team is slowly taking shape. Also, Harrison Ford and fellow original stars Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill are all expected to be returning on Episode VII, although Ford recently claimed that he has "not quite made the choice."

Earlier this week, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael B Jordan have both revealed that they have auditioned for roles in the new "Star Wars" episode, and Benedict Cumberbatch, who previously worked with Abrams on this year's "Star Trek Into Darkness," is rumored to be taking parts in the film.

Disney has made an announcement, which seeks out two young actors through a casting call that speculators are linking with "Star Wars: Episode VII." Announced by @UKopencall on Twitter, the studio asks for a beautiful young woman, between the ages of 17-18, to play a street smart "survivor" who lost her parents but dreams of bettering her life. Another role is for a young man between the ages of 18-23, who will play a smart handsome man; he is unsure of himself but capable of courage.

The audition already began in Bristol on November 9, and it will continue throughout November in the UK and Ireland. It remains unclear exactly what role these characters, referred as Rachel and Thomas, will play, but past movies have hinted that the unknown actors might be taking the lead roles in the film.

George Lucas, the creator of the franchise, has dropped many hints over the past decades about what Episode VII might feature, with rumors of as many as twelve different plot outlines being prepared in the 1980s by the director, however the plot still remains unclear.

One thing for sure is that Episode VII won't be the last part to the franchise. Disney has already confirmed that it plans to produce at least three more films in the future, ending with "Star Wars: Episode IX" in 2019.
