Drake skipped Sunday evening's Grammy Awards because he had better things to do: stay in his hometown and kick it with his OVO crew at a two-day rap battle event.

Although he was nominated for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song, the Toronto emcee attended King Of The Dot Entertainment's "Blackout 5" rap battle instead of the Grammys.

Drizzy discussed his interest for battle rap and answered a few questions at the KOTD press conference on Feb. 6.

"I would love to enter the scene," he said. "It's tough for me because it's a no-holds-barred competitive interaction and the problem with that is I have to go back to my life after that. I've always struggled with that as far as battle rap goes."

"I would love to get into the scene but I have obligations that I might say something and somebody might say something about me and it makes it stuff when I have corporate stuff going on," he continued. "It's a tough thing. I think one day I might do it."

In addition to hosting and participating as a judge, the "Hold On, We're Going Home" hitmaker sponsored the event through his OVO brand and vowed to put some cash down on the two headlining face-offs between Hitman Holla and Shotty Horroh, and Charron and Pat Stay -- a whopping $10,000 each.

Drake's rebellious move to ditch the Grammys was quite expected, as he shamed the prestigious ceremony as a featured artist on Big Sean's latest single "Blessings." He raps that his "Hood Grammys" on Instagram was more meaningful to him: "I could give two f--ks 'bout where the Grammys go / I just gave out Grammys on my Instagram / Them OVO boys the business man."
