There will be two sequels to “Fifty Shades of Grey” based on other books from the trilogy: “Fifty Shades Darker” and “Fifty Shades Freed.” The news were announced on Friday Feb. 6 during the fan screening of the film at New York’s Zeigfeld Theater.

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, who play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele respectively, appeared at the screening along with director Sam Taylor-Johnson and author E.L. James.

According to ComingSoon.net, the trilogy has been translated into 50 languages and has sold over 70 million copies.

No more details about the sequels were announced, including when they would be released, who will direct them and who will act in them. However, it could turn out that the series will be a huge success, if the screening is an indication.

The New York Daily News reports fans attending the screening, composed of mostly women, were thrilled by the movie and could be heard gasping and giggling throughout it. Afterwards some commented on how Dornan and Johnson appeared to have great chemistry on screen despite rumors they do not get along off screen.

The “Fifty Shades of Grey” Twitter account released some photos from the screening, depicting the multitude of fans awaiting to see the movie.

Aside from the screening, some other news broke today. The Hollywood Reporter says director Taylor-Johnson and author James fought over the film’s ending and revealed the last words. Taylor-Johnson wanted “red” to be the last word, as it was the couple’s safe word. However, James opted for “stop.”

Although “red” was mostly favored, James succeeded in having her way.
