This spring, movie-goers are in for a sizzling, silly and light-hearted treat when "Modern Family" star Sofia Vergara and "Wild" Oscar nominee Reese Witherspoon team up in a hilarious new action-comedy called "Hot Pursuit."

Witherspoon plays "an uptight and by-the-book" Texan cop who tries to protect "the sexy and outgoing widow (Vergara) of a drug boss as they race through Texas pursued by crooked cops and murderous gunmen."

"It's finally here!!! The trailer for Hot Pursuit!!! Such an honor to work with Reese Witherspoon and so excited to finally share this with you!! ‪#‎HotPursuit" Vergara wrote on her Facebook page.

"For your viewing pleasure :) #HotPursuit official trailer @SofiaVergara #Caliente!!!!" wrote Witherspoon on Twitter.

Vergara may be taking on the stereotypical role of a Latina who is married to the ringleader of a drug cartel (who Witherspoon hilariously refers to as "El Chapo"), but she brings the laughs, a trait that her fans love. It's also Vergara's biggest role yet, which is very exciting for the rising star.

The duo is dynamic in its own right -- the Colombian star is also the highest paid TV actress and Witherspoon has an award-winning acting career, which includes an Oscar for Best Actress for "Walk the Line" in 2005.

In "Hot Pursuit," Vergara and Witherspoon also share some funny insults in Spanish. There are also plenty of jabs at Witherspoon's height.

"Look at you, you're teenie-tiny, you could fit in my purse!" Vergara says to Witherspoon.

"That's not underwear, that's a diaper!" Vergara adds.

Then there are references to Vergara's age in the news as a 45-to-50-year-old Latina, which doesn't settle well with her.

Regardless of her age, Vergara continues to turn heads, which was evident on set, according to Witherspoon.

"Literally every person stares at [Sofia]," Witherspoon told People. "Men fall on the floor; women drop their purses. It's like a commercial! Her hair is in slow motion."

"Her character is so sexy and suave, and I'm so dorky," Witherspoon added.

Playing the role of a police officer in an action-comedy is ironic for Witherspoon, who had a run-in with the law back in April 2013 when she was arrested for disorderly conduct. She has since been redeemed with her Oscar-worthy performance in "Wild" and has since put this behind her -- plus laughter always helps!

The cast of "Hot Pursuit" also includes John Carroll Lynch and Rob Kazinsky.

"Are [you] guys ready for this???!!!haha! @RWitherspoon" Vergara added.
