Pics and Photos Show Niagara Falls Frozen Over Due to Sub-Freezing Temperatures [Video]
Sub-freezing winter temperatures by the Great Lakes partially froze Niagara Falls this week.

TIME reports the famous waterfalls, located at the Canada and U.S. border, were partially frozen as temperatures in the region plummeted to 13 degrees below zero on Monday. The water continued to flow through the waterfal,l but layers of ice accumulated, giving the illusion the waterfalls were frozen in the winter wonderland landscape of snow and icy mist.
The bone-chilling temperatures have not stopped tourists from flocking to the see the falls' frozen appearance.
The National Weather Service reports a Wind Chill Warning remains in effect from midnight Wednesday until 10 a.m. EST Friday for western and north central New York.
"Dangerous cold and potentially life threatening wind chills will be possible by Thursday night. This could lead to frostbite and hypothermia if you are not dressed properly," the warning states.
Niagara Falls will remain partially frozen this week due to a strong wind that will combine with cold temperatures. According to weather reports, the wind chill will feel like it is 25 degrees below zero or colder. Tourists venturing to the waterfalls are urged to dress in layers and protect their skin from the dangerously cold conditions.

Niagara Falls is located in a city by the same name in Niagara County, New York. It is across the Niagara River from the city of Niagara Falls, Ontario. Both cities are named after the famed Niagara Falls which Canada and the U.S. share. The waterfalls and the Niagara Gorge are located next to the Niagara River, which flows from Lake Erie to Lake Ontario.
