A Brooklyn, New York man has been charged with offering to kill President Barack Obama for ISIS, if the militant group entrusted him with carrying out such a dastardly deed.
In all, authorities on Wednesday charged three men from that borough with plotting to wage jihad for the militant group. According to NBC News, federal prosecutors have identified the suspects as Abdurasul Juraboev, 24, Akhror Saidakhmetov, 19, and Abror Habibov, 30. Juraboev and Habibov are said to be Uzbek citizens, and Saidakhmetov is a citizen of Kazakhstan.
The website reports Juraboev and Saidakhmetov planned to soon travel to Turkey, then Syria were they were presumably set to engage in warfare. Habibov is suspected of helping to financially support the effort. Saidakhmetov was taken into custody as he prepared to board a plane bound for Istanbul at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
Several media outlets have reported all three men are scheduled to appear in federal court on Wednesday and face up to 15 years in prison on formal charges of attempt and conspiracy to provide material support to ISIS.
"Anyone who threatens our citizens and our allies, here or abroad, will face the full force of American justice," said Loretta Lynch, the top federal prosecutor in Brooklyn.
Juraboev had been under the watch of federal officials since August when he posted on a pro-ISIS website. In his ranting, he allegedly offered to kill the president if ISIS ever asked him to, Additionally, FBI officials noted his plans included planting a bomb on Coney Island.
Meanwhile, Saidakhmetov had openly expressed a willingness to shoot police and FBI officials if he was not able to join up with the terror group in its strong hold local of Syria.
As far back as October, NBC News reported the Internet, social media in particular, was increasingly becoming a recruiting hotbed for groups like ISIS as well as a way for the FBI to stop would-be jihadis.
