'America's Next Top Model' Cycle 21 Contestant Mirjana Puhar Reportedly Killed in Triple Homocide, Shooting May Be Drug Related [Pics]
North Carolina police have charged a 19-year-old man in connection with a shooting that left three people dead, including a popular former "America's Next Top Model" contestant.
Mirjana Puhar, 19, was found shot to death along with her boyfriend, Jonathan Alvarado, 23, and Jusmar Gonzaga-Garcia, 21, Alvarado's best friend and roomate, in a home Alvarado owned in Charlotte, according to TMZ. Authorities report money was found scattered throughout the home, and early indications are the shooting may be drug related.
Police were called to the home after another friend of Alvarado's went to the residence after being alerted of gunshots fired in the home.
Police have since charged 19-year-old Emmanuel Jesus Rangel with three counts of first-degree murder. The New York Daily News adds Gonzaga-Garcia's Facebook page was littered with a recent picture of him posed with $20 bills under the caption "lifestyle."
Investigators are looking into rumors the killing might be connected to a recent shooting at a nearby Matthews hotel in which one man was killed and another was seriously injured. Rangel has also been charged in that shooting, along with 19-year-old Edward Sanchez and 18-year-old Emily Ann Isaacs.
"I can tell you that this is not a random act of violence," Lt. Alex Watson told reporters of the triple shooting.
Puhar was a contestant on Season 21 of the popular Tyra Banks-hosted show and advanced all the way to the Episode 10. Reportedly, she had only been dating Alvarado for a few months.
Puhar's last a pic on her Instagram page was shared on Sunday.
