PS4 vs. Xbox One Reviews, Specs, News: Microsoft Matches Sony in First Week Sales, Americans May Still Prefer Playstation 4
After all the talk about the Playstation 4 being way ahead of the Xbox One, it looks like things have evened out.
The rivalry between Microsoft and Sony intensified this month after both companies released the consoles of the next generation, marking the start of a new time era in gaming. But perhaps the biggest story to emerge from the big month of November was how the Xbox One came full circle to squash the critics who had said the game console would be a disappointment.
To some extent, the Xbox One was behind - Microsoft announced the release date much later than Sony and the actual release date was a week after the Playstation 4 release - but in the end both came out with very highly successful launches.
The decision of whether to purchase and Xbox One or Playstation 4 is difficult considering that both have received high ratings, but what makes it easier is that they both cater towards different audiences and consumers. The PS4 may be the better option if you care mostly about only the gaming experience while the Xbox One offers a comprehensive, interactive experience for the everyone in the living room.
Americans Prefer Playstation 4?
Although both Microsoft and Sony reportedly sold one million units on the first day of sales, the comparison may not be completely parallel. The Xbox One was sold in 11 countries on release day as opposed to the Playstation 4, which was sold in only the United States and Canada during the launch.
Despite this, experts say that it is too early to tell which console really has the edge. Technology researcher Brian Blau told ABC News that we need to look at these numbers over a longer period of time.
"One million isn't a lot in the lifetime of a product that stretches out for five to seven years," he said. "It'll be months and years to come before we see which console the game players are really favoring."
