Jessica Simpson has dealt with harsh critics during her entire career. The star who first hit the entertainment scene as a pop singer in the late 1990's has evolved into a fashion icon and proud mommy of two. However, Jessica's biggest fight with the media has to be the constant criticism with her weight.

Jessica Simpson joined the campaign for Weight Watchers in 2012. Another celebrity who is a constant advertiser of the weight loss program is singer and actress, Jennifer Hudson. The program seems to really work for Hollywood, as it has been the solution behind many success stories for other stars like Tina Fey, Jenny McCarthy and Charles Barkley.

But even before Jessica's first pregnancy and her decision to then join Weight Watchers, she had been criticized for her weight gain. During shining times as a successful recording artist and her hit reality show with ex-husband Nick Lachey, "Newlyweds" , Jessica had been very thin. After the unexpected end of her marriage to 98 Degrees band member Nick Lachey, Simpson took her life and career a different route. That's when she also began to gain some weight, which was rare for the "Dukes of Hazard" wafer-thin star that had always fit in to Hollywood's impossibly high standards. In her VH1 documentary series, "The Price of Beauty" in 2010, Jessica showed us a different side of her. As she traveled the world figuring out what beauty meant to different people and cultures, she made us realize that she wasn't happy under the pressure of being super skinny.

Jessica remained at a more curvy weight that was not acceptable to the entertainment business and suffered from much scrutiny from the media. But it wasn't until gaining some significant weight during her pregnancy that she decided to lose the pounds. This is very admirable, since not many celebrities are strong enough to stand up for themselves and look the way they want. Now after her second pregnancy, Jessica has stuck with her Weight Watchers contract and has been posting pictures of the up and coming commercials on her Twitter. She is sporting a big smile and a thinner frame but most importantly, a healthy weight. The successful singer, actress and fashion designer is an example of a woman in control of her image. We tend to hear too many unfortunate stories about women who go to the extremes to be skinny. It's refreshing to see powerful women like Jessica choose a safe way into living a healthy lifestyle.
