George Zimmerman Update Aggravated Assault: Trayvon Martin Killer Found With Shotgun, AR-15 Rifle, Handguns
Infamous former neighborhood watch guard George Zimmerman had five guns in his home when he was arrested following an altercation with his girlfriend, police documents say.
Zimmerman, who rose to fame during his murder trial for the death of Trayvon Martin, was acquitted and then proceeded to go off the deep end. His estranged wife, Shellie, said he went on a "victory tour" without her and that her husband completely changed.
She said in an interview with Katie Couric that George was "like a monster" and that something changed with him.
"I don't know who George is anymore," she said. "I'd like to think that I married a person that was a good person. In going through the past year and a half, I don't know how that changes a person or how a person's spirit breaks. But it certainly seems like that's what happened to him. I found out he was lying about a lot of things and he became like a pacing lion. Very unpredictable."
Zimmerman has been no stranger to domestic issues. When he was at his old home to collect his belongings, the police were called and his wife told the police that he had a gun.
Fast forward to November, Zimmerman found himself embroiled in the same kind of mess -- the only difference this time was that he was involved with somebody else. The firearms in the home following his recent arrest, police say, included an AR-15 rifle, a shotgun, and several handguns.
Zimmerman was released on $9,000 bond and was told that he could not have any firearms. According to NBC News, his former lawyers said that they expected their former client to be cleared after he pled not guilty.
