Even though the biggest shopping day of the year started a day early, reports of violence still sprang up at various sales across the country.

First, Fox News is reporting that a man in a New Jersey Wal-Mart was arrested after assaulting a police officer. The assault sprang up when the officer tried to separate the man from another person, who were arguing over buying a TV.

Then, in Romeoville (a suburb of Chicago), a man was shot by police after dragging a police officer in front of a Kohl's department store. Police say that the man was allegedly involved in a shoplifting scheme.

In Las Vegas, a man was shot in the leg in front of his home after purchasing a big-screen TV at his local Target. He was taken to the hospital, and his injuries were reported as "non threatening."

Finally, at least three people got into a fight outside of a Wal-Mart in Rialto, California, because they accused the others of cutting the line. Two people were taken into custody after a police officer was injured trying to break up the fights.

According to MSNBC, however, these fights are despite the latest Gallup poll results that demonstrate that more than half of the people in America "have no intention of going shopping this weekend," mainly because they wanted to avoid the crowds and the lines. These same half of Americans reported that they preferred to shop online, which is the highest reported share of online shoppers since 1998.
