Mexican actress Kate del Castillo was the special guest at the Los Angeles Lakers' pre-game show on Tuesday night, and "The Book of Life" star used the occasion to reveal her very own basketball "dream team," Variety Latino reported.

And while the height of her "players" may be somewhat below average, the stars del Castillo picked would certainly inspire on any court. So who would they include?

"Alejandro González Iñárritu, for sure, because he would have an incredible perspective over everything," the 42-year-old actress said. "Javier Bardem because he is Javier Bardem, and Juliette Binoche because she is a very organic women; she is an animal, a very beautiful person beyond being a great actress, and she would have a good strategy."

González Iñárritu, who this year won the Academy Award for Best Director for his black comedy drama "Birdman (Or The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)," in fact has a close relationship with many Mexican star athletes, who last month celebrated his Oscar win on social media, according to ESPN Deportes.

Javier Bardem, the only Spanish actor to ever win an Academy Award, is also known to enjoy basketball; in 2010, he famously took his then-girlfriend Penélope Cruz to a Lakers game, Hello recalled. The two married a few months later in the Bahamas and have since had two children, a son named Leonardo and a daughter named Luna.

And rumors have been flying in Ireland that French actress Juliette Binoche, the only non-Latina present on del Castillo's team, is a big rugby fan, the local blog Joe.ie noted.

Del Castillo's appearance at the pre-game event hosted by Time Warner Cable Deportes, meanwhile, seems to have brought the Lakers luck, Variety Latino noted: The Los Angeles team beat Detroit Pistons 93 to 85.

The Mexican actress told the magazine that her many commitments keep her from attending games as often as she would like; be she still keeps up on what is going on with the local basketball squad.

"I know that right now they are not in their best moment, like they are staggering," del Castillo explained. "I come here to bring them good luck," she added.

But the ups and downs in sport are not that different from acting or life in general, she noted.

"We all have moments of a bad streak, and it's within us as fans to support (the team) even more," she said. "It's like marriage; you can't only be nice to your husband when he is doing well. It's during good and bad times."
