Denver police say they literally found the writing on the wall in a case involving a bitter husband who allegedly burned down his home because he thought his wife was having an affair.

Thirty-one-year-old William Lindauer was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly spray-painting the phrase "My Wife is a Cheater" in two locations on the outside of his Arvada home before setting it on fire. He also wrote the name of the man he believed his wife was cheating with.

Police were called to put out the fiery blaze around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Although no was injured, Arvada Fire spokeswoman Jill McGranahan said that the intense fire and heat caused "very significant damage" to the residence, reports the New York Daily News.

"Upon their arrival, they were faced with a lot of fire that was coming from the front of the house as well as the back of the house," Deputy Fire Marshal Deanna Harrington told the Denver Post. "There was debris in the street -- some patio furniture."

Lindauer, who is a part owner of the three-bedroom home, is facing charges including first-degree arson, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. During a court hearing on Wednesday, he was ordered by a judge to be held at the Jefferson County jail on a $50,000 bond, reports the Denver Post.

According to Lindauer's wife, he accused her of cheating on him with a man she knew in high school after the man suddenly began "liking" her posts on Facebook. However, she told investigators that she had not seen the man in years, states an affidavit.

She added that her husband burned their home near the intersection of West 68th Avenue and Nelson Street while he was in a "drunk" stupor.

Court documents show that Lindauer's wife filed for divorce in October 2013 and was granted a divorce in February 2014. However, both the prosecutor and Lindauer's public defender stated that the couple was still married on Wednesday.
