"Friday Night Lights" star Jay Hernandez, who is rumored to be in DC's upcoming "Suicide Squad" live action movie, is certainly keeping busy these days.

Hernandez, who is also known for his roles in "Crazy/Beautiful" alongside Kirsten Dunst, "Hostel," "Carlito's Way: Rise to Power" and "World Trade Center," will be starring in the upcoming movie "Max," a touching, "coming-of-age story" about a young teen and his family dealing with loss of their fallen brother and son, a United States Marine who served his country on the frontlines of the war in Afghanistan.

"MAX" stars Hernandez, "Parenthood's" Lauren Graham, Josh Wiggins, Thomas Haden Church, Robbie Amell and Luke Kleintank.

Hernandez is slated to play a Marine who is also a dog trainer, Wiggins plays the surviving son and Church plays the tough father, a former Marine who cherished his older son.

"Inspired by true events," the story highlights how the fallen soldier's military dog is traumatized by his handler's death in Afghanistan and is adopted by the soldier's bereaved family. With some hard work and dedication, the fallen soldier's troubled 14-year-old brother eventually finds "friendship, comfort and adventure with the heroic military dog of his fallen brother."

Hernandez recently did a stint on ABC's "Nashville" and co-stars in Fox's "Gang Related."

As if that wasn't enough, Hernandez is also reportedly joining the cast of "Suicide Squad." The highly-anticipated comic book movie stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie and Joel Kinnaman.

While the movie is still in development, Hernandez is reportedly playing Chato Santana, the New 52 version of El Diablo.

"Santana has the ability to create and control fire, and is sentenced to Belle Reve prison when he burns down the building of a local gang and accidentally kills the innocent women and children inside. Soon after, he's recruited by Amanda Waller and joins the Suicide Squad."

Hernandez will have "a small, cameo role in the film, as he remains under lock and key in the super-powered wing of Belle Reve. He won't be alone, either, and will reportedly be joined by familiar DC villains Killer Frost, Blockbuster, King Shark, Live Wire, and more."

Production for "Suicide Squad" kicks off in April, and Warner Bros. will release the film on Aug. 5, 2016.
