Taylor Swift wants her name to keep a clean profile. That is why the singer is purchasing all domain names that could be used for offensive purposes.

After June 1, the .adult, .porn. and .sucks domain names, and others, will be available to the public to create websites. Swift and others wanting to keep a clean image are currently allowed to buy out these domain names to keep them from being used for adult-themed purposes or other harmful purposes, according to CNN Money.

Microsoft does not want its Microsoft Office brand being attached to websites like Office.porn or Office.adult, so the company went ahead and purchased those domain names.

Swift has reportedly done the same thing with TaylorSwift.porn and TaylorSwift.adult, Entertainment Weekly reported. This keeps her name clean and keeps those with bad intentions away from creating these types of websites.

"People who have bad intentions are going to do what they're going to do and there's nothing to prevent that," Steve Miholovich Senior Vice President at Safenames said.

In 2011, the nonprofit Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers decided to add more generic top-level domains (gTLDs) such as .net and .com. There were only 22 at that time, and now there are over 547 gTLDs available on the Internet.

ICANN says that more gTLDs such as .healthcare and .deals will help Internet users wind up on the right websites. It also will provide businesses with a unique address that people may be able to remember easier.

Companies and people in the public eye like Swift might not want to purchase a domain name like .sucks, but it is better than having someone damage their reputation with a hate site. Just think, someone who hates Taylor Swift could create a TaylorSwift.sucks and post a bunch of mean things about her.

To combat this, Swift can just purchase the .sucks domain and not do anything with it.

It's the same thing with a company trying to keep its positive reputation. Office.sucks could hurt Microsoft Office's sales. That is likely why Microsoft purchased the domain name.
