Oprah Winfrey: Nude Portraits Reportedly Up for Sale at Garage Sale
Oprah Winfrey is holding a yard sale that's rumored to include nude artwork of several male figures.
TMZ.com reports "her run-of-the-mill plates, tables, chairs, etc." aside, the thing that seems to stand out most among the items Oprah is rumored to be offering on the market appears to be her nude artwork. The website adds a set of the four framed nude "mythological figures" are expected to fetch anywhere from $800 to $1,200.
TMZ adds the lot also includes a nude painting by Aristide Maillol that's expected to go for between $8,000 to $12,000; some Ellie Dolgin nude statues, priced at around $10,000, and a Richard Edward Miller painting of a nude woman with an estimated top-shelf value of about $120,000.
TMZ notes that "There's also a weight set that looks barely used (no shade, just the truth) for about $500, a pen with Oprah's name on it for $50, and some kind of lamb sculpture that lays for about $2,000."
It seems reasonable to speculate at least some of the items Winfrey no longer has use for derive from her recent move from Chicago to Los Angeles. After nearly 25 years, Winfrey recently shuttered her Chicago-based Harpo Studios and relocated to L.A.
In 2011, Winfrey announced she was making the move to L.A. to launch the OWN network, but now she has also relocated production operations there. At the time of its move, Harpo was employing 580 people at its downtown Chicago location.
In a statement, Winfrey said of her move and Harpo's closure, "Harpo Studios in Chicago was not just my home but also my life for nearly 30 years. I've spent more time there than anywhere else. I am so proud of what we created. It has been a blessing in my life and I thank everyone who has been a part of this great run. I am now looking ahead to inhabiting the new space on The Lot in California and carrying on the legacy of Harpo Studios with OWN programming."
