Apple Watch Price, Apps & Release Date: Apps Start to Surface for Device, Reservations Will Be Required for Watch
A small number of apps are already being developed and previewed by app developers for the upcoming Apple Watch. The newly developed apps show future Apple Watch users what could be popular on the device, AppAdvice reports.
A built-in weather app will display the forecast, current conditions and help Apple Watch users plan their day right from their wrist. Other third-party weather apps will surface soon. Dark Sky is one of the first weather apps to offer support for the Apple Watch.
Workout apps will be numerous for the Apple Watch. Nike, Strava and Runtastic are among the many apps that will allow Apple Watch users to track their steps, distance traveled, calories burned and more.
Shopping apps will allow users to pay with their smartwatch for goods and services thanks to Apple Pay. Target's app has already been updated to offer support to the Apple Watch. In the next few days, eBay, Fandango and Expedia will update their apps to offer support for the Apple Watch.
Travel apps will offer convenience, such as plane tracking and hotel room check-in. SPG: Starwood Hotels & Resorts updated their app to allow guests to check into their hotel rooms right from the Apple Watch. An American Airlines app is coming for the Apple Watch as well.
Several productivity and organizational apps are already optimized for the Apple Watch. They include Wunderlist, Things and Evernote. More similar productivity apps are coming soon.
There will be many news and sports apps that will be available for the Apple Watch. TheScore sports app is ready for the Apple Watch and so is news app Flipboard. ESPN and The New York Times are expected to update their apps soon.
Customers wanting to purchase an Apple Watch need to act quickly, they will need to make a "Product Reservation" to secure the device. Those who are hoping to come in on a walk-in basis will be out of luck, Apple Insider reports.
