Mega Millions Numbers & Results March 31, 2015: Live Stream of Drawing Time; $20M Jackpot
If Friday's "meager" $15 million Mega Millions jackpot was not quite enough to spark your imagination, you are in luck: No one matched the winning numbers, which means the prize has inched up to $20 million for tonight's drawing. Who gets to take that nifty sum home will be determined at 11 p.m. Eastern Time at the studios of WSB-TV, Atlanta's ABC affiliate.
The unmatched winning numbers from the March 27 drawing were 17, 21, 36, 58 and 70; the Mega Ball number was 3; and the "Megaplier" was 5, according to the game's official website. The relatively low jackpot was the result of the March 24 drawing, in which a lucky player managed to score a nest egg of $59 million, MLive recalled.
The highest payouts on Friday, meanwhile, were two $1 million wins for players in New York and New Mexico; they matched five numbers -- but not the Gold Mega Ball, the website added.
The Land of Enchantment winner, Ricardo Abeyta, hails from Los Lunas, a village of fewer than 15,000 inhabitants in Valencia County, KOB noted. The brand-new millionaire learned of his riches on Sunday morning when the ticket checker at a local convenience store told him to "Claim at Lottery," the Albuquerque NBC affiliate detailed.
"I said, 'I can't breathe right now ... I think I actually won,'" Abeyta told lottery officials. "It feels unreal," he added.
If a participant matches all six numbers tonight, he or she will have the option of an immediate lump-sum payment of about $13 million. Otherwise, the total prize is handed out in annual installments during a 29-year period. Before you agonize over that choice, though, remind yourself that your chances of winning the jackpot in the first place are about 1 in 259 million.
Mega Millions drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday at WSB-TV. Tickets to the game are sold in 43 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands - a total of 45 jurisdictions. While hitting the jackpot is a true feat, the odds of winning any prize are much better at about 1 in 15.
You can watch a live stream of the lottery drawings at 11 p.m. Eastern Time below.
