"Teen Mom OG" Episode 2 aired on Monday and was chock full of new beginnings as Maci Bookout and Amber Portwood prepared for their kids first days of school. Meanwhile, pregnant Catelynn Lowell learned the gender of her baby.

In this week's show, the young moms were kid-focused.

Amber Portwood, who recently got out of jail, picked up where she left off with daughter Leah. She took Leah school supply shopping with her ex, Gary Shirley. It felt like old times with the tickle fights and giggles, but Shirley's friend gave him some advice about being too playful with Portwood.

"Whatever you're doing, if you wouldn't do it to a random old man in a parking lot, you shouldn't be doing it to Amber," he said. It was on odd way to tell Shirley to keep his hands to himself, especially out of respect to his new girlfriend, Kristina.

Portwood drove Leah to the first day of school, but refused to leave the car because she spotted Kristina. She shoved the cameras away in a huff when she arrived home. Although she told OK! Magazine in a recent interview that she was over Shirley, it seems she has some unresolved feelings.

She revealed to OK! Magazine that her fiancé, Matt Baier, helped her get over Shirley.

"I think [Matt] helped me get completely over him," she said. "It was months before that though that I actually made the decision to not want to have the relationship with Gary anymore. Matt has helped a lot when it comes to both of us actually moving on."

Second-time mom-to-be Lowell and her fiancé, Tyler Baltierra, had their first ultrasound. Baltierra prayed for a baby boy. The ultrasound revealed the baby's sex is female, to which he exclaimed, "Of course it's a girl!"

During this episode, Baltierra quizzed Lowell about how much weight she had gained during her first pregnancy and about the pounds she is gaining with her second pregnancy. He made her feel ashamed about gaining 20 pounds to date, which did not sit well with some fans.

Bookout got Bentley ready for his first day of kindergarten. Bentley's dad, Ryan Edwards, missed his son's first day of school. Following a tear-filled drop-off at the school, Bookout visited her therapist to discuss her frustrations with her ex, who seems uninterested in having a relationship with their son.

Luckily, Bookout has motocross rider and boyfriend Taylor McKinney, whom she has dated for two years. He is involved in 6-year-old Bentley's life, and he and Bookout are expecting their own child.

Farrah Abraham did not appear on the first episode of the MTV reality series, but she is expected to make an appearance on the show soon.

A teaser for Episode 3 was released. Portwood is nervous about the upcoming book signing. She admits to having anxiety and not liking being around people.

She explains that her book has some of her experiences being in prison.
