Quarter-Century Strong: The Billboard Latin Music Conference Celebrates its 25th Year
The Billboard Latin Music Conference is nearing a quarter of a century since it first assembled in 1989, and will be celebrating its 25th anniversary during the Spring of 2014 in a three-day event that will include special awards, showcases, panels, and exclusive Q&A sessions, and its annual culmination event, the Billboard Latin Music Awards. The entire shindig, award show and all, will take place in Miami.
The 25th Billboard Latin Music Conference will draw herds of Latin musicians, industry executives, brand marketers, music commentators and national radio programmers. From Apr. 21-24, the State Farm-sponsored function that will take place at the JW Marriot Marquis will flutter with energy and enterprise as Latinos in the music industry network, and flirt with opportunities to work with new artists and to potentially learn about new marketing ideas.
"For the past 25 years, the Billboard brand has been the leading advocate and the go-to name for Latin artists and the Latin music industry worldwide," said Leila Cobo, Billboard's Executive Director for Latin Content and Programming. "The Billboard Latin Music Conference existed before any other conference dedicated to Latin entertainment worldwide, and we, as a brand, are immensely proud to say that today Billboard continues to be the undisputed place to be for any artist, manager, label, promoter, or brand that is serious about the Latin music industry."
The Latin Music Conference has sparked countless collaborations (notably Enrique Iglesias with Wisin & Yandel), uncovered a number of new talents, launched a bevy of new products, and encouraged an abundance of business exchanges. Last year, the event included an in-depth interview with rapper Pitbull, and the late rapper/singer Jenni Rivera, who featured her presence at the conference and award show on her reality show, I Love Jenni. The 2013 conference included exclusive Q&A's with the incomparable Gloria Estefan and Latin Grammy heavy-hitter Carlos Vives.
The Billboard Latin Music Conference has touched every area of the Latin music cannon, and has partnered with and collaborated with a remarkable number of Latin stars. The conference, award show and celebration will not only bring light to the longevity of the annual event, but it will also bring light to the Latinos contribution to the world of music. The fourth annual "Marketing Exchange" will appear at the conference, a program which focuses on trending ideas in Latin Marketing. Also, the 12th annual Billboard BASH will precede the Billboard Latin Music Awards.
