‘The Returned’ Season 1 Episode 5 Spoilers: A Secret Behind the Dam is Revealed, Victor Confronts Pierre in "Serge and Toni"
Fan can expect "The Returned's" Episode 5, "Serge and Toni," to pick up the pace as townspeople begin to realize there are active ghosts in their midst, according to A&E.
Mrs. Costa and Victor visit the American diner where, in Episode 2, Simon assaulted the owner. The pair get a bite to eat and talk. Mrs. Costa seems accepting of her undead state. "No one can hurt us now," she tells Victor. He's obsessed with thoughts of Pierre, who he thinks caused his and his parents' death. Victor asks: "Can we hurt other people?"
"Is there someone you want to hurt?" she asks. Victor doesn't answer, but looks on, brooding.
The Lake Pub's weird bartender Toni had attempted to do the world a favor by murdering his psycho brother, Serge, a decade earlier. Now, he learns that his hunter-killer brother has returned. Serge did not kill Lena in the underpass in the last episode, but he did take her back to his rural mountain farm to massage nettle juice on her back. Strangely, Lena did not seem disturbed by the experience.
A secret about the dam is revealed in "Serge and Toni." Viewers have experienced hints that a catastrophic leak may happen at any time. In this episode, we learn that the lake behind the dam conceals the ruins of a village destroyed by a previous dam burst. Could the village be why the dead congregate in the town?
A team of divers inspecting the dam base discover dead wild animals in the eerie abyss. The local pathologist and amateur animal psychologist claims that the animals drowned themselves to escape an unknown terror.
Meanwhile, Simon is heartbroken when Adele finally tells him that she will not elope with him.
Camille also feels the pangs of heartbreak when her former beau Frederic rejects her.
At the end of the episode, little Victor confronts Pierre, the manager of the Helping Hand, about killing him and his parents. Pierre says that it was his deranged accomplice, but Victor doesn't believe him. The lights go out. Pierre's masked accomplice appears next to him with a gun ready to shoot Victor again, but Pierre stops him. When the lights switch on, there is no sign of the masked man.
As the scene closes, Pierre is sitting on the floor shaking with fear.
