New Orleans' historic French Quarter will host no fewer than three Easter parades on Sunday, the city's Times-Picayune noted.

Visitors to Louisiana's most famous locale will have their pick among the "Historic French Quarter Easter Parade," the "Chris Owens Easter Parade" and the "Gay Easter Parade" -- or they can attend all three on April 5. Here are the details:

  • The "Historic French Quarter Easter Parade," whose tradition goes back almost 100 years, kicks off at 9:45 a.m. at Antoine's Restaurant, 715 St. Louis St., Experience New Orleans detailed. At 11 a.m., the event pauses for Mass at the St. Louis Cathedral and resumes at noon after a promenade in Jackson Square. Its route includes historic Dauphine, Bourbon, Royal and Chartres streets, and it features "stylish ladies in lovely hats handing out goodies via both carriages and convertibles." The parade ends where it started - at Antoine's Restaurant.

  • The "32nd Annual Chris Owens French Quarter Easter Parade," meanwhile, begins at 1 p.m. at the corner of Canal and Bourbon streets. Those who are bold enough to miss Mass, however, have the option to attend a continental breakfast and hat-contest silent auction at the Astor Crowne Hotel's ballroom at 11:00 a.m., organizers noted. Visitors will be treated to colorful floats, marching bands, beads and Easter trinkets as the parade heads down Bourbon, St. Phillip and Decatur streets; it concludes at the Astor on Canal Street with a champagne brunch and dancing.

  • The "16th Annual Official Gay Easter Parade," finally, completes the trilogy when revelers assemble at the Armstrong Park Arch at 4:30 p.m., its sponsors announced. The event, which benefits "Food For Friends," features 29 carriages, wagons and trolleys, as well as two bands, seven walking groups and 10 vehicles. The parade will head down North Rampart and Toulouse streets, make a U-turn and continue via St. Ann, Bourbon, Esplanade, Royal and St. Louis streets before concluding at 834 N. Rampart St. It "showcases the fashion and creativity of the entire (lesbian, gay bisexual and transgender) community with gentlemen in summer suits/tux with hats and ladies in Easter suits/dresses with Easter hats," organizers detailed.
