'True Detective' Season 2 Spoilers & News: Three Detectives Brought Together by Bizarre Murder [Watch]
HBO has released a new trailer and revealed details about the plot of the highly anticipated second season of its hitdrama series, "True Detective."
Although the setting is no longer the Louisiana swamps, viewers still get to see what life is like behind the badges and the veils of suspicion as they let go and allow trust to guide the characters.
In the second season, HBO reveals that audiences are taken to the dry and scorched landscapes of California where three detectives have been brought together by circumstances surrounding a bizarre murder. Colin Velcoro (Colin Farrell) is a compromised Detective in the city of Vinci, L.A. County.
Ani Bezzerides (Rachel McAdams) finds herself at odds with the system, even though her job as Detective with the Ventura County Sheriff's Department keeps her at bay.
Paul Woodrugh (Taylor Kitsch) is a two-wheeling California Highway Patrol officer and war veteran who discovers the crime scene that sets the stage for the season. All of these law enforcement units are pulled together and right in the middle of this complicated event are a web of criminal collusions that also involve billions of dollars.
Vince Vaughn also stars as Frank Semyon, a criminal entrepreneur who's in danger of losing his life's work and can hardly trust his wife, who starts to second-guess her own choices being with him.
As was last seen on this series in Season 1, the duality of Detectives Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and Hart (Woody Harrelson) in the backwoods lands of swampy Louisiana, this might be far different, yet more closely related than the viewer might think. The constant suspicion of each other and the "never rule anyone out" concept until all angles have been worked is what made this series a strong effort to begin with.
As reported on Us Weekly, Season 2 of "True Detective" is set to return on Sunday, June 21 with an eight-episode run.
